Baijnath

Baijnath is a small town which is situated in the outskirts of the Gomti River in the Bageshwar district of Uttarakhand, India. This place is famous for many ancient temples. The best one among them is the Baijnath Dham temple. Being a renowned temple of Lord Rudra or Shiva, Baijnath temple is preferred by all pilgrims. There is a big history behind this temple. The temple attracts a huge number of visitors and pilgrims from all over India and abroad throughout the year. There is a concept of special prayers which are offered in the morning and evening every day besides on special occasions and during festive seasons. The Makara Sankranti, the Maha Shivaratri, Vaisakha Sankranti, the Shravana Mondays, etc. are celebrated with immense zeal and splendor. Some of them are the Mukut Nath temple at Sansal and the Awahi Nag temple the Mahankal Temple at Mahankal on Chobin Road, the Shobha Singh Art gallery (Andretta/Panchrukhi 11 km from Baijnath).

The town offers splendid views of the mesmerizing Dhauladhar Ranges and chain of mountain streams. There are also some Tibetan Monasteries at Sherabling (Bhattu),Chauntra and Chowgan on the Mandi Highway and at Bir.

Billing is very much famous an international paragliding site which is considered as one of the best places in the world for paragliding and other adventural sports. The place has been the host to international events such as the Paragliding Pre-World Cup several times and other national and international events.

By Air: To reach Baijnath you can a get flights to Pantnagar Airport on regular basis. Pantnagar airport is 200 km away from the town of Baijnath. Taxis are available from the airport itself.

By Rail: There are no regular trains from other major cities to Baijnath. Nearest train station is Kathgodam, 65 km away from the town that connects the state to major Indian destinations.

By Road: Baijnath is well connected to other important cities of the country like Kathgodam via regular buses.
