The two most famous names when talking about the state of Uttarakhand are Nainital and Mussoorie. Mussoorie which is also popularly known as the “Queen of Hills” is a famous tourist destination in the Garhwal division of Uttarakhand. Located at an Altitude of 2006 mts, Mussoorie is a gleaming picturesque hill station in the heavenly state of Uttarakhand. Being located at a distance of 35 kms from Dehradun, Mussoorie is located in the Himalayan foothills and derives its name from shrubs mansoor, which are available in higher quantities around the town. The varied flora and fauna, majestic views of Shivalik ranges, and Doon valley attracts both domestic and international travellers alike. Mussoorie is also renowned for Lal Bahadur Shastri National Academy of Administration where officers get trained for the Indian Police Services and Indian Administrative Services.
A number of interesting places lie at the town of Mussoorie such as the Mall that extends to Rockville in the east and from Cloud’s End in the west. The Mall surely offers visitors with an old world charm that gets heightened with the presence of Home and Tibetan School, National Academy of Administration, the Municipal garden.
Travellers can surely enjoy their time on ropeway to Gun hill, Mussoorie’s second highest peak. This also provides travellers with bird’s eye view of the Doon school and the town. Gun hill also provides travellers with panoramic views of Himalayan ranges. The beautiful 4km stretch of 4km from Kurli Bazar to Library point is also known as the Camel’s Back Rock which is a great experience whether you’re walking or traveling from horse ride.

By Road:Mussoorie can be easily reached with well linked motorable roads. Normal and Luxury buses are available from Kashmiri Gate ISBT. Travellers can also hire taxis from major Uttarakhand destinations such as Rishikesh Dehradun, Tehri, Haridwar, etc.
By Train: The closest railway station is the Dehradun Railway station which is at a distance of around 36kms. Dehradun is well linked with trains from major Indian cities as you get two trains that daily run between Dehradun and Delhi and vice-versa.
By Air: The closest Airport is the Jolly Grant Airport in Dehradun which is 60kms away from the town and is well linked by Highways. One can easily take taxis from Jolly Grant Airport to Mussoorie.
